A Unique Gathering & Exchange of Ideas among 11 of the UK's Leading Asset Allocators
In April 2023, the UK & Ireland Women in Investment Management community gathered for a private luncheon at The Libertine London. Eleven asset owners from prominent investment institutions shared their personal experiences, and some of the challenges of navigating life and career. Participants recounted their own experiences in seeking gender diversity, access and visibility and their journeys into the C-Suite and decision-making ranks.
“The fundamental importance of mentoring and creating a culture of allyship in early career came up time and again across our three discussion topics. One attendee commented, “It is important to help young professionals entering the finance world know who they can turn to – helping them build their network is essential”. Others framed the case for diversity in terms of gender inclusion; “The men need to be brought to the table, in particular, when it comes to the encouragement of shared parental responsibilities [...] to allow for equal opportunities for advancing your career”. Many shared candid experiences as well as their personal strategies and support tools to building a system that works for them.
As we continue our road trip, we will be in Copenhagen on the 8th of November, and in Stockholm on the 9th of November with another ten motivated and influential professionals building our dynamic community. Intimate and meaningful conversations around gender visibility, culture and access will take place. This will be an exclusive gathering, and so to be part of it, please communicate with your usual contact at Institutional Investor.
