2023 UK & Ireland Summit Awards
The return of Institutional Investor’s Peer to Peer Awards was one of the highlights of the recent UK & Ireland Summit held in Syon Park, London on June 13th to 14th, 2023.
These awards are intended to recognise investors in the UK & Ireland who are successfully determining asset allocation, portfolio construction and manager selection at a wide variety of institutions. These awards are based on the community of asset owners recognizing each other for their achievements.

Brunel’s Pension Partnership CIO David Vickers was chosen for 2023’s CIO of the Year. Vickers was one of 5 chief investment officer finalists selected based on nominations from peers, and shortlisted by the panel.
His nominators cited not only his investment expertise but also his drive to deliver a strong culture and team empowerment as well as his proactive stance on stakeholder management.
Several other asset owner institutions were honoured over the course of the evening. The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames & London Borough of Sutton were named joint winners with the Local Pensions Partnerships as Organisation of the Year.
Their nomination highlighted that “following a very distinctive (business) strategy [both] are examples of leadership, culture, a forward looking strategy and developing in house talent”
