Liberty Mutual and Principles for Responsible Investment
Neeti Bhalla, President and CIO of Liberty Mutual Group, will become the first large U.S. property and casualty insurer to sign the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment. As a signatory, the Boston-based insurance company will join an international network of more than 1,750 investors from more than 50 countries, representing approximately $70 trillion.
The UN PRI (Principles for Responsible Investment) was founded in early 2005 by then UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan; in April of 2006, the initial 20-person investor group created six aspirational practices called “the Principles,” including actively and collaboratively incorporating ESG issues into investment analysis and decision-making.
“At the highest level,” Ms. Bhalla said, “PRI brings together responsible investors from around the globe to support the creation of sustainable markets, from climate change to the barriers around a more sustainable financial system, leading to prosperous and inclusive societies for future generations.”
